The Certificate is a renowned program led by world-class academics, in-house counsel and practitioners, aimed at providing theoretical and practical insights, including interactive workshops, about international commercial and investment arbitration.
The tenth edition will be held fully in person in Rome.

I applied to the Certificate through Young ICCA and the Chiomenti Scholarship at a moment in which I was intentionally building my arbitration career. I already had experience advising the State of Guatemala in investment arbitration and had completed a master’s degree in dispute resolution, but I wanted to keep strengthening the foundations on which I hope to build my long-term practice. The Certificate was exactly that: a rigorous, practical and genuinely international space to deepen my knowledge, confirm my path and continue exercising the arbitration muscle. What surprised me most was the quality of the academic environment. The faculty was simply outstanding, bringing together leading practitioners, arbitrators, academics, in house counsel and representatives from arbitral institutions, all in a setting where participants could actually engage with them. The program was intense and practical, but also warm and generous, with great networking opportunities, a wonderful cohort and the unforgettable setting of Rome. I left with new ideas for my work, friendships I still keep today and renewed determination to engage more actively with the international arbitration community. I would gladly recommend the Certificate to anyone who wants to strengthen their arbitration foundation and build an international network in one of the best cities in the world.

I am delighted to share my experience from the 2025 edition of the Certificate in International Commercial and Investment Arbitration. My experience from the Certificate programme was not only professionally rewarding but also intellectually stimulating. The practical bit of the programme offered an excellent balance to the theoretical foundation. Additionally, the programme presented a unique opportunity to network and interact with practitioners and participants alike from various jurisdictions and cultures. This enriched the discussions and provided valuable comparative perspectives. The sessions were extremely informative and appropriately organized. I got to strengthen my understanding of arbitration and hone both my critical and analytical skills. Overall, the programme offered a lovely, lively, and collegial learning experience. I definitely highly recommend the certificate program to anyone aspiring for a rigorous, practice-driven, and globally oriented learning experience.

I had the enriching opportunity to attend the Certificate in International Commercial and Investment Arbitration as a recipient of the generous Young ICCA – Chaffetz Lindsey LLP Scholarship. The Certificate covers various aspects of arbitration, ranging from applicable laws and procedural conduct to issues related to the recognition and enforcement of arbitral awards. It offers valuable insights from the perspectives of both counsel and arbitral institutions. The program also brings together participants from diverse jurisdictions, fostering rich discussions during sessions led by seasoned professionals in the field. Additionally, the Certificate provides the unique opportunity to attend the University of Roma Tre – UNIDROIT Annual International Arbitration Lecture and visit UNIDROIT itself. I wholeheartedly recommend this opportunity to legal professionals and aspiring practitioners interested in commercial and investment arbitration who are seeking to deepen their understanding of the field while connecting with like-minded peers from around the world.

I had the pleasure of attending the Certificate and found it to be an exceptionally well-structured and enriching experience. What stands out most is its outstanding balance between the academic and networking components. The programme offers a truly effective combination of solid theoretical foundations and a practical, hands-on approach, allowing participants to deepen their understanding of international commercial and investment arbitration while also engaging with real-world perspectives. Equally valuable is the strong emphasis on networking. The Certificate provides a unique opportunity to connect directly with leading arbitration institutions and distinguished practitioners in the field, which significantly enhances the overall learning experience. The quality of the speakers is remarkably high, and the organisation of the programme is flawless. I was particularly impressed by the professionalism, responsiveness, and genuine commitment of both the staff and the Directors, who create an environment that is both welcoming and appropriately formal. Finally, the international dimension of the programme is a key strength: the connections built with fellow participants from diverse jurisdictions are both meaningful and lasting. I would highly recommend this Certificate to anyone seeking a comprehensive and engaging introduction to international arbitration, combined with invaluable opportunities to expand their professional network.
