Giacomo Rojas Elgueta

Associate Professor of Private Law at Roma Tre University School of Law

Giacomo Rojas Elgueta is an Associate Professor of Private Law at Roma Tre University Law School, and Of Counsel and Co-Head of Arbitration at Chiomenti. He is actively involved in commercial and investment arbitration as counsel, expert witness and arbitrator. He has acted as sole arbitrator and co-arbitrator in various arbitration proceedings, both ad hoc and under the rules of the ICC, Swiss Arbitration Centre and CAM, with seat in different countries. He is Co-Director of the “Roma Tre – UNIDROIT Centre for Transnational Commercial Law and International Arbitration”, Co-editor of the ICCA project “Does a Right to a Physical Hearing Exist in International Arbitration?”, Co-Chair of the Focus Group “Construction Arbitration” of the Italian Association for Arbitration, and past Co-Chair of ArbIt (the Italian Forum for Arbitration and ADR). A dual qualified lawyer (Rome and New York), he earned an LL.M. with distinction and an S.J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania and was a Visiting Scholar at Yale Law School. In 2023, he was appointed by the Italian Government to the ICSID Panel of Conciliators.

Maria Beatrice Deli

Secretary General of the Italian Association for Arbitration

Maria Beatrice Deli is Professor of International Law at Universitas Mercatorum and Adjunct Professor of International Arbitration at Roma Tre University School of Law. As counsel, she is founding member of DeliSasson since January 2023. She gained an extensive experience in a wide range of corporate and commercial disputes across a variety of industries. She frequently acts as sole arbitrator, chair or co-arbitrator in both ad hoc and institutional arbitration proceedings, under the different rules of arbitration with seat in different countries. Maria Beatrice is Secretary General of the Italian Association for Arbitration (AIA), and from 2013 to 2021 she was Secretary General of ICC Italy. From 2014 to 2021 she was member of the Council of the Milan Chamber of Arbitration. She is Chair of the ICC Italy Commission on Arbitration and ADR. Maria Beatrice is a founding member of ArbIt (the Italian Forum for Arbitration and ADR) and a member of the editorial board of the law reviews “Rivista dell’Arbitrato” and “Diritto del Commercio Internazionale”.

Benedetta Mauro

Benedetta Mauro is a Ph.D. candidate in Private Law at Roma Tre University School of Law and a Legal Consultant at UNIDROIT. She is currently a Ph.D. visitor to the Squire Law Library at the University of Cambridge. From 2019 to 2022, Benedetta worked at D|R Arbitration & Litigation, where she assisted Prof. Giacomo Rojas Elgueta in various arbitration proceedings, both ad hoc and under the rules of ICC, CAM, and Swiss Arbitration Centre, with different seats and applicable laws, including as secretary of the arbitral tribunal. She was admitted to the Rome bar in 2022. Benedetta has been the coordinator of the Certificate since 2023, after being a tutor for three editions (2020-2022). She is also a Mentee in the Young ICCA Mentoring Program and a member of the Editorial Staff of the Roma Tre Law Review. She is a member of Young ICCA and AIA-ArbIt-40, and she is fluent in Italian, English, and Spanish.

Clarissa Gola

Clarissa Gola is a Ph.D. Candidate in Private Law at Roma Tre University School of Law, where she is undertaking research under the supervision of Prof. Giacomo Rojas Elgueta on the liability of benefit corporations’ directors for failure to uphold the common benefit objectives. She graduated with honors from Roma Tre University School of Law with a thesis on “The resolution of investor-States disputes: From the ISDS system to CETA’s proposed ICS” in 2019. She also holds a post-graduate diploma from the Roma Tre University preparation course for legal professionals (2021). She was admitted to the Italian Bar in 2022, after gaining two years of experience in a law firm specialized in Civil and Administrative Law. Clarissa is the author of several publications in the field of private law, and she has been a speaker at various international conferences. She has been a tutor of the Certificate since 2023.

Tutor

David Antognetti

David Antognetti is a Ph.D Student in Private Law at Roma Tre University School of Law in the international Ph.D. program in “Law & Social Change: The Challenges of Transnational Regulation”. He is developing a research project on sustainable contracts as a means to protect future generations. David is also a trainee at the Italian Supreme Court of Cassation and has previously worked at BussolettiNuzzo Avvocati, dealing especially with Commercial and Contract Law. Before graduating with honors from Roma Tre University School of Law in 2022, he had a summer work-experience in an English law firm in London and joined various International Law competitions, such as the NHSMUN (2015) and the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition (2021), in which he ranked 5th national best oralist and amongst the first 250 in the world. He has been a tutor of the Certificate since 2023. He is fluent in both Italian and English.
