Giacomo Rojas Elgueta
Professor of Private Law at Roma Tre University School of Law
Giacomo Rojas Elgueta is Professor of Private Law at Roma Tre University Law School, and Of Counsel and Head of International Arbitration at Chiomenti. He is actively involved in commercial and investment arbitration as counsel, expert witness and arbitrator. He has acted as sole arbitrator and co-arbitrator in various arbitration proceedings, both ad hoc and under the rules of the ICC, Swiss Arbitration Centre and CAM, with seat in different countries. He is Co-Director of the “Roma Tre – UNIDROIT Centre for Transnational Commercial Law and International Arbitration”, Co-editor of the ICCA project “Does a Right to a Physical Hearing Exist in International Arbitration?”, Co-Chair of the Focus Group “Construction Arbitration” of the Italian Association for Arbitration, and past Co-Chair of ArbIt (the Italian Forum for Arbitration and ADR). A dual qualified lawyer (Rome and New York), he earned an LL.M. with distinction and an S.J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania and was a Visiting Scholar at Yale Law School. In 2023, he was appointed by the Italian Government to the ICSID Panel of Conciliators; in 2024, he was appointed as Italian delegate at the “ICC Global Commission on Arbitration and ADR”; in 2025, he was appointed as Member of the Panel of Arbitrators of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC).

Maria Beatrice Deli
Secretary General of the Italian Association for Arbitration
Maria Beatrice Deli is Professor of International Law at Universitas Mercatorum in Rome. As counsel, she is founding member of DeliSasson since January 2023. She gained an extensive experience in a wide range of corporate and commercial disputes across a variety of industries. She frequently acts as sole arbitrator, chair or co-arbitrator in both ad hoc and institutional arbitration proceedings, also under the ICC Rules of Arbitration with seat in different countries. In 2011 Maria Beatrice was appointed as Secretary General of the Italian Association for Arbitration (AIA), and from 2013 to 2021 she was Secretary General of ICC Italy. She is in the list of CAS ADD arbitrators. Member of the ICC Italy Commission on Arbitration and ADR, she is a founding member of ArbIt (the Italian Forum for Arbitration and ADR) and a member of the editorial board of the law reviews “Rivista dell’Arbitrato” and “Diritto del Commercio Internazionale”.

Benedetta Mauro
Benedetta Mauro is a Ph.D. candidate in Private Law at Roma Tre University School of Law and an Associate at Chiomenti. She has been involved in both ad hoc and administered arbitrations (including as Secretary of the Arbitral Tribunal), with seat in different jurisdictions and under various rules (including ICC, CAM, Swiss Arbitration Centre) and applicable laws. Before joining Chiomenti, she gained experience as Legal Consultant at UNIDROIT, and as Junior Associate at a primary boutique law firm specialising in international arbitration. She was admitted to the Rome bar in 2022. She is the Coordinator of the “Certificate in International Commercial and Investment Arbitration” and Assistant to the Editors of the ICCA Project “Does a Right to a Physical Hearing Exist in International Arbitration?”. She has been a Ph.D. Visitor to the Squire Law Library, University of Cambridge, and a Mentee in the Young ICCA Mentoring Programme. She is currently a member of the Executive Committee of AIA-ArbIt-40 and a member of the Editorial Staff of the Roma Tre Law Review.

David Antognetti
David Antognetti is a Ph.D. Candidate in Private Law at Roma Tre University School of Law within the international Ph.D. program “Law & Social Change”. His research focuses on sustainable contracts and intergenerational interests. He has been a Visiting Ph.D. at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law in Hamburg. He is an Italian qualified lawyer (Rome Bar) and has gained experience as a trainee lawyer at BussolettiNuzzo Avvocati and as a legal intern at the Italian Supreme Court of Cassation. He also serves as teaching assistant and subject expert in Private Law and is involved as tutor in the “Certificate in International Commercial and Investment Arbitration” Summer School at Roma Tre University, as well as in the Roma Tre–UNIDROIT Centre. He graduated with honors (110/110 cum laude) from Roma Tre University in 2022 and is fluent in English (C2) and Italian.

Ilaria Castagna
Ilaria Castagna is a Ph.D. Candidate at Roma Tre University School of Law in the international Ph.D. program in “Law & Social Change: The Challenges of Transnational Regulation”. She graduated with honours from Luiss Guido Carli University with a dissertation on the protection of foreign direct investments in the EU–UK relationship post-Brexit. She also earned an LL.M. with merit in International Economic Law from the University of Glasgow, where her dissertation focused on “The introduction of the level of development into IIL absolute standards of protection: a relevant tool to address the legitimacy crisis?”. Among her professional experiences, she completed a traineeship at a law firm specialised in Civil Law and a legal internship at UNIDROIT, where she worked on the International Investment Contracts project. She continues to collaborate on this initiative through the Investment Contracts Taskforce, established under the Roma Tre University – UNIDROIT Centre for Transnational Law and International Arbitration.
