Omar Puertas Alvarez is Legal Innovation Partner at Harvey and an international arbitration specialist with more than 25 years of experience in cross-border dispute resolution. Before joining Harvey, he spent over two decades at Cuatrecasas, where he became an equity partner and played a key role in the firm’s international expansion, establishing and leading its Shanghai office. Throughout his career, Omar has advised clients on complex international arbitration, litigation and investment matters across Asia, Europe and Latin America. He has acted in proceedings under major arbitral rules, including ICC, SIAC, HKIAC, CIETAC and SHIAC, and has extensive experience handling disputes involving diverse legal systems and cultural environments. Omar is a member of the panel of arbitrators of the Shanghai International Arbitration Center. He is also member of the HKIAC List of Arbitrators. He is a frequent speaker and author on arbitration, cross-border disputes and the impact of artificial intelligence on legal practice.
