Christina Hioureas is a partner and co-lead of Foley Hoag’s International Litigation & Arbitration practice in New York, and Chair of the firm’s United Nations practice group. She is also a Visiting Professor of Law at Columbia Law School (NY) and the UCLA School of Law (LA). She represents States, private and State-owned entities, and individuals on international investment treaty and commercial disputes and public international law matters, and advises States on matters before the UN. She acts as counsel in arbitrations and is a seasoned trial attorney, and has served as arbitrator in over 80 arbitrations. She also acts for States before the International Court of Justice, the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea, and regional human rights tribunals. Her work ranges from cleantech, gas price revisions, construction, and fashion disputes to climate change, decolonization, law of occupation, and human rights cases. Christina has been recognized by Chambers & Partners, Legal 500, and the Global Arbitration Review, and as a “Top 10 Most Innovative Lawyers – North Americas” by The Financial Times (2024).
